Project Overview

24Smart Solutions completed the network, fibre optic and access control infrastructure for Kwiksave Logistics in Burlington, Ontario.

The facility is a 90,000+ square foot warehouse, approximately 40 feet high. At the back are private offices, meeting rooms and a back IT room. At the front is an open office area and the main IT room.

The Challenge

The two IT rooms sit at opposite ends of a very large building. Every office, meeting room and workstation needed a reliable wired connection, and the Wi-Fi access points, security cameras and workstations across the site all had to work as one network. Every entrance to the building also needed to be secured.

Our Solution

• Cat6 to every office: each office, meeting room and the open area received Cat6 cabling, terminated on patch panels, labelled and tested.
• Fibre backbone: a fibre optic run between the main IT room and the back IT room links the two ends of the building, so access points, security cameras and workstations work reliably throughout.
• Access control: card access installed on all six exterior doors and one interior double door, with access cards programmed for the client.
• Two IT rooms: full-size IT cabinets and patch panels for organized termination and distribution.

The Result

Kwiksave Logistics moved into a building with a labelled and tested Cat6 network, a fibre backbone connecting both IT rooms, and card access on every exterior entrance.

Project Scope

The project included the installation of new network infrastructure throughout the office areas and the development of two dedicated IT rooms.

24Smart Solutions installed two full-size IT cabinets, including patch panels and associated network infrastructure, providing organized termination and distribution points for the building’s network cabling.

Fibre optic cabling was installed as part of the network infrastructure to provide high-speed connectivity between the IT rooms and network locations.

The project also included access control for six exterior doors and one interior double door, with card-based access programmed for the client.
